About the Artist

My name is Kim Powers and I am an eighteen-year-old college student at Santa Rosa Junior College.  I graduated with the Class of 2006 from Terra Linda High School.  I played varsity soccer for three years and hold a few records at the school.  I have been making and selling jewelry with my mom for nearly a decade now, and I intend to do it as a profession, studying to become a jeweler and gemologist.

I live with my mom, brother, and beautiful cat, Zeke, in Novato, CA, a bit north of San Francisco.  Trying new things (besides food) is a passion of mine, from traveling the world to working on a new jewelry project, I am easily amused.

I like dancing in a rainstorm, eating too much breakfast food too late at night with my closest friends, mulling over a thought provoking quote, and gawking at shiny things.

I love working with wire, precious metals, as well as genuine gemstones and high quality beads.  My signature pieces are the chain maille bracelets.  Chain maille is just like what medieval knights wore, but I just make jewelry out of it because there isn’t much of a calling for a suit of armor these days.  I also do knotting, especially pearls, though virtually anything can be knotted.  Recently, my mom and I have gotten into setting stones in rings, pendants, and so on, and now we both have a vast and growing collection of gemstones.

If you have any questions about me or my creations, feel free to ask.  I am happy to work with you to make the perfect piece of jewelry, unique to fit you.
